Gil's cutting credentials include $300,000 in Equistat earnings with championships in the NCHA Super Stakes Classic and the Congress open cutting.  His Western Pleasure earnings are in excess of $550,000. Gil specializes in the young pleasure and cutting futurity horse.

Garrett & Brody Run the Ranch Gil and Becky are the proud parents of Garrett Ray Galyean who was born August 28, 2000 and Brody Galyean, born July 18, 2004. Gil's parents Kenneth and Kathy Galyean and John and Bertena Freeman reside in Northwest Arkansas where Gil was raised. His brother Jody Galyean of Ardmore, Oklahoma, is an NCHA and NSBA Hall of Fame member. His sister Shannon Essary lives in Bentonville, Arkansas and is employed by Microsoft.

Becky was raised Southwest of Kansas City in Edgerton, Kansas where her family still resides. She shows in non-pro NCHA and NSBA events and handles the office Management for Gil Galyean Quarter Horses, in her spare time from her main job of raising two very active boys.

 New In 2005 ~ The Galyean Ranch

Gil Galyean Quarter Horses has moved and is now located on their new ranch in central Oklahoma, just south of Purcell. The new 110 acre ranch and training center includes:

  • A 21 stall main show barn with clean, safe, and breezy stalls
  • A 120x225 covered multi-purpose arena
  • A 165x200 outdoor arena
  • A 140x140 cutting arena
  • Two six-horse hydraulic horse walkers
  • Multiple turn-out paddocks and pastures with improved Bermuda grass


  • The Galyeans are conveniently located 45 miles south of Oklahoma City just west off I-35 at exit 86. They have built a state-of-the-art training facility and would enjoy showing it to any visitors who can stop in to say hello.
